Our Pasadena health center is located in the Bayshore Medical Center off of Spencer Highway in the heart of Pasadena between I-45 and Beltway 8. This location is easy access for those who live on the East and Southeast sides of the metro area including the areas of Baytown, Clear Lake, Deer Park and LaPorte.

April was born in Galveston and raised in Pasadena, TX. April became a Medical Assistant through the Everest Institute. Prior to working at DiabetesAmerica, April worked at Digestive Health Center and Nathan Cardiology.
She chose to specialize in diabetes because of her family history. She knows what diabetes can do to one’s body if not controlled and it makes her feel the need to take care of herself and her loved ones that much more. April is excited to be a part of the DiabetesAmerica team because it is a great place to work while learning and exploring diabetes. Knowing that she can be a part of helping patients that sometimes struggle managing their diabetes makes her feel good.
She is married with two beautiful daughters. She loves to spend time with her family and enjoys watching her girls as they grow.

Lauren Foster
Diabetes Educator
Lauren was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science from Texas Tech University. Lauren then continued her education at University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston where she completed her dietetic internship and Masters of Public Health. She is now a Registered Dietitian and works as a diabetes educator.
Lauren has been interested in diabetes since she began studying nutrition in undergrad. That interest grew when she worked at a diabetes camp for children and while doing her clinical rotations during her dietetic internship. She has seen the effect diabetes can have on a person’s quality of life and has a desire to work with patients and give them the knowledge and tools they need to help stop the progression of the disease and prevent further complications. She likes to help people in setting and achieving their goals for better health.
In her spare time, Lauren enjoys hanging out with friends, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

Mary Ann GarciaMedical AssistantMaryAnn was born in Alice, Texas and raised in Corpus Christi. She moved to the Houston area in 2000. MaryAnn went to became a Medical Assistant through Education America. She has been in the field for ten years and is loving every bit of it.
Prior to working at DiabetesAmerica, MaryAnn worked spent four years working with a family practice in the Baytown / LaPorte area. She then spent two years with Laboratory Corporation of America in Houston.
She is excited to work for DiabetesAmerica because diabetes has affected her personally, as the majority of her family has diabetes. She wanted to learn more and help people with this condition. She loves what DA represents and how their care model helps patients control their diabetes. She often hears patients telling patients new to DA that "this is the place that helped them control their diabetes" and the place that educated them more about taking care of themselves. She feels really good to be part of such an amazing team.
MaryAnn has been married for over ten years and has two beautiful children. MaryAnn and her family love going to do family outings, camping, fishing, and watching the Texans play football!!

Yolanda Gonzalez
Diabetes Educator
Yolanda moved to Houston from Fort Worth, TX and loves working for Diabetes America!
She was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, so she is a native BORICUA! She started as a High School Biology teacher, after graduating from the University of PR, Mayaguez Campus.
Her passion for Diabetes started, when she was working in the OB Department of the County Hospital in Fort Worth, TX many years ago. While working there, she realized there were many pregnant diabetic clients, and no regular follow-up or education specifically for them. She ended up developing a program for them, and that’s how her passion for diabetes started!
And after more than 20 years in this field, she is still passionate about it! Yolanda is married, has one daughter and loves reading and swimming.

Sem Lee
Diabetes Educator
Sem is originally from Northern California. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition. Sem then went on to New Orleans, LA and completed her dietetic internship in 2002. That is where she found her passion in diabetes education.
Sem began her career as a clinical dietitian and in 2003 she got an opportunity to work in the diabetes field as a diabetes educator. She has been in diabetes education ever since. Before coming on board at DiabetesAmerica, she was working at Kaiser Permanente in San Jose, CA. Sem has been with DA since 2009 and believes the comprehensive approach DA offers effectively helps patients with their diabetes management. She is very passionate about helping others obtain good health for better living.
Sem enjoys many things in life. She has a great love for photography and enjoys taking pictures of people. Sem is also a world traveler as she has been to more than 15 countries around the world. Her favorite place so far is Italy, and she hopes to be back someday. Although Sem misses the mountains in California where she does her hiking and snowboarding, she stays physically active here in Houston with kickboxing, cycling, and running.

Mirella Rodriguez
Medical Assistant
Mirella was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She became a Certified Medical Assistant through the Academy of Health Care Professions.
Prior to working at DiabetesAmerica, Mirella worked at Le Family Practice, a general practice where she learned a lot. She misses the patients she used to work with, but she wanted to expand her knowledge. Mirella feels that DiabetesAmerica is a place where she can learn, grow and help patients manage their diabetes. On a personal level, she has a history of Diabetes in her family and she thought this was the right path for her. She’s excited to be part of something like diabetes, which affects so many people. DiabetesAmerica is here to help and she is a piece in the puzzle. While assisting patients, she is also learning how to be more health conscious for herself and her family.
Mirella is married to her best friend, William and has three beautiful children, Alexie, Jordan and Matthew. They love watching movies together and going to the park.
