Diabetes Tip #11

More "I Hate To Exercise" Tips

So you've come up with some new excuses to not exercise? Don't worry - we have the answers to your troubles.

"I'm afraid I'll get low blood glucose."
If you're taking a medication that could cause low blood glucose, talk to your health care provider about ways to exercise safely.

"Walking hurts my knees."
Try chair yoga or swimming for no stress on your knees.

"It's too hot outside."
Walk inside a school or a cool shopping center.

"It's not safe to walk in my neighborhood."
Find an indoor exercise class, such as ones offered at a community center.

"I'm afraid I'll make my condition worse."
Get a checkup before planning your fitness routine so you can discuss what's safe for you.

"I can't afford to join a fitness center or buy equipment."
Do something that doesn't require fancy equipment, such as walking. Or you can use cans of food for weights.

"Exercise is boring."
Try different activities on different days. Mix it up and you'll avoid making exercise tedious.
