Diabetes Tip #10

"I Hate To Exercise" Guide to Diabetes and Exercise

There are many excuses that keep us all from doing what we know we should. Diabetics can't afford to put off till tomorrow the exercise they should be doing to manage diabetes everyday. Here's a guide to answering every excuse for not exercising…even if you only have to answer to yourself.

"I don't have time."
Do as much as you can. Start with 10 minutes a day and add more little by little. Work up to 10 minutes at a time, three times a day.

"I'm too tired after work."
Plan to do something active before work or during the day.

"I don't have exercise clothes."
Wear anything that's comfortable as long as you have shoes that fit well and socks that don't irritate your skin.

"I'm embarrassed to exercise in a group."
Exercise on your own, following along with an aerobics class on TV or going for a walk.

"I don't want sore muscles." Warm up and stretch before your exercise and cool down afterward - you wont experience soreness if you care for your muscles well.
