Diabetes Tip #1
Walk Together To A Healthier Place
Walking with a friend…what could be better?
How about choosing the best time for walking? It's 1-2 hours after a meal, when your insulin and blood sugar levels have settled down. Morning exercise is recommended, since it avoids the peak insulin part of the day, especially for Type 1 diabetics.
Walking with a partner or a walking club has several benefits. First, you can have them watch you for signs of low blood sugar and nag you to take care of yourself. Second, walking with somebody else keeps you more regular in your exercise. Third, it's just a lot more fun to walk together.
However you walk, never go out without wearing a medical ID bracelet that lists your diabetes. This is critical to help you in a medical emergency.
